INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - More victims of a debit card security breach affecting the Aldi supermarket chain are coming forward and they say their money is being stolen in California.

24-Hour News 8 broke the news of fraud at the stores last week, spurring Aldi to publicly acknowledge a federal investigation is underway.

Thieves have accessed some the debit card swipe machines. When you swipe your card, they obtain your information and have access to your bank account. Many viewers have contacted us to say money was stolen from your account after shopping at Aldi. And all the thefts seem to have originated from the same state.

"Well (Tuesday) I found out the someone had taken $500 out of my account in California. And they tried to take $200 additional, but the bank must have shut the card down," said Felesa Averitte, an Aldi shopper who discovered fraud on Tuesday.

All the Aldi victims who contacted 24-Hour News 8 have said money from their account was stolen from someone in California. Aldi leaders refuse to tell us which stores are affected, but many of our viewers have contacted us.

Money has been stolen from our viewers’ accounts after shopping at the following stores:
Aldi in Noblesville, the store located at 5235 N. Keystone in Indianapolis, and the Aldi located 3540 Commercial Drive in Indianapolis.

The Aldi spokesperson assures us that all affected debit card machines have now been replaced. But if you shopped at Aldi recently, watch your bank statement. Most banks will replace any funds lost due to theft.
