PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) - Authorities in Hendricks County say a person was taken to the hospital Wednesday night after being shot.

Police in Plainfield were called to the 4200 block of Wolcott Drive on two separate reports. The first report was of shots fired and the second was of a reported assault and trauma.

Officers say a man had been shot at the Saratoga Crossing Apartments. The victim was not at the scene when police arrived.

Police say it appears someone took him to Hendricks Regional Hospital. The victim was then airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital; his condition isn't known at this time.

Police also have not released the name of the victim.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored car leave the scene around the time of the shooting. Police conducted a search with K9 units, and later pulled over a car matching that description with multiple people inside.

They say those people are being questioned by police.
