INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The 16-year-old arrested after a shooting on the Monon Trail earlier this month will be charged as an adult, the Marion County prosecutor said Tuesday.
Devon Moore, 16, faces charges of attempted murder and robbery, both Class A felonies, and carrying a handgun without a license, a Class A misdemeanor.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said Moore shot Gary Bravard, 58, seven times on June 16 as Bravard walked home from work on the Monon Trail. The incident had started as an attempted robbery, police said, and Bravard was shot after he refused to comply with Moore’s demands.
Another 16-year-old boy was sought in the case, but he came forward and cooperated with police , and IMPD said he is considered a witness.
An initial hearing has yet to be set for Moore, Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry’s office said Tuesday.
