INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A 24-year veteran of the Indiana State Police has been arrested.

According to police, the investigation took less than one month and resulted in the arrest of First Sergeant Rick Reed.

Reed is facing six felony counts of forgery.

According to authorities, Reed was arrested at his State Police office in downtown Indianapolis Friday afternoon.

Police say the 53-year-old is accused of forging sales purchase price information on vehicle titles which resulted in lower sales tax payments.

Reed is now facing six counts of forgery, a Class C felony. If convicted, each count could carry two to eight years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.

He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave. His police powers have been suspended until his trial is complete. If found guilty, his employment with Indiana State Police will be terminated, police say.
