5 arrested after meth lab found in New Castle home

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) - Five people were arrested after a meth lab was found inside of a New Castle, Ind. home.

Around 6 p.m. Thursday night, the Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad was sent to a home in the 1600 block of Irvine Ave. in New Castle as part of an ongoing meth investigation.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a meth lab and chemicals often used for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

At the home, officers arrested 54-year old Lawrence Lathan and his wife, 48-year-old Mary Lathan. The Lathans were charged with maintaining a common nuisance.Travis Lathan, 25, was also arrested for maintaining a common nuisance.

Police also arrested 37-year-old Wade McKenzie on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of precursors and maintaining a common nuisance.

Holli Choate, 36, was also arrested on charges of maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent. Choate's 2-year-old child was home at the time of the arrests and was turned over to the Henry County Child Protection Services.

Officials say this is an ongoing investigation and more charges may be filed at a later time.
