An arrest warrant has been issued for former candidate for Lieutenant Governor Dennie Oxley. He was supposed to turn himself Wednesday.

24-Hour News 8 found the 38-year old Oxley Wednesday afternoon walking along Ohio Street. He had no comment.

Earlier, Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi charged Oxley with public intoxication and impersonating a public servant.

Around one o'clock Friday morning, Metro police say they found Oxley and a 21-year-old woman drunk at a downtown gas station. Police say Oxley claimed immunity against arrest because he was a state lawmaker with the General Assembly in session.

Police later found out his dad is the state lawmaker.

"The most disturbing thing is that a 21-year-old intern who did some work in the House and is out at one o'clock in the morning with a 38-year-old married man and then he leaves her face down in the gas station parking lot for at least 12 to 17 minutes there before police respond to the scene," said Brizzi.

Brizzi also told 24-Hour News 8 that his office is trying to get in touch with the cab driver to find out what lead to them being dropped off at the gas station.

In Bloomington, a special prosecutor said a separate drunk driving investigation involving Oxley is on hold. The prosecutor said he had hoped to resolve the charge at a hearing this week.
