AVON, Ind. (WISH) - Stolen guns are on the streets of Central Indiana, taken in a daring smash and grab in the middle of the night in Avon. At 3 a.m. Saturday morning, a stolen SUV barreled through the door of Fort Liberty Firearms on U.S. 36. Immediately, four suspects jumped out of the vehicle and started grabbing guns.

Lisa Daugherty, co-owner of the business said, “When we got there, the SUV was still in here. It was complete chaos. The front doors were back by the cases and all our bullets, holsters and all were all over the place.”

As one suspected acted as lookout, three others looted the business. Daugherty described surveillance video that shows the burglars in action.

“Three came jumping over the counters looking for handguns we keep in the cases during the day. But they didn’t find any because we lock all those at night in the safe,” she said. “A couple of the guys fell and struggled but they were only in the building about 30 seconds. It was 30-40 seconds before police arrived so they were not able to obtain much and we are thankful for that.”

Motion detectors alerted police to the break-in.

"We are a family owned business and we are thankful no one was hurt, no one was here,” Daugherty added.

Daugherty said police found a couple of the burglars' ski masks over by the skating rink and they tried to track them with dogs.

Police are looking for four teenagers ages 17-18 years old.

If you know anything, call Avon police.
