INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police are investigating the city's latest homicide. Detectives
say the deadly shooting happened just before 6 o'clock Saturday
night on the city's east side.
Investigators say it happened around 5:30pm Saturday in
the 700 block of North Sherman Drive. When police arrived on
the scene, they found Darnell Overstreet with a gunshot wound to
the head. Witnesses tell detectives they heard an argument, then
shots.
"This appeared to be an incident concerning just these individuals. There was some type of an argument. We believe the subjects were known to each other and we are investigating that as a distinct possibility. We don't believe this was a random event," said IMPD Sgt. Paul Thompson.
Investigators are looking for a suspect. Police say Overstreet lived in the neighborhood.
