IPS teacher pleads not guilty in court

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A Marion county judge entered a not guilty plea on behalf of an Indianapolis Public School teacher during his initial hearing Wednesday morning.

The high school teacher, Lee Tibbetts faces six felony counts of child molesting and two other felony charges. He's accused of having sex with a male student in a classroom during school hours and soliciting another student.

Tibbetts was a math teacher at John Marshall Community High School and was under investigation in Cincinnati when IPS hired him. IPS administrators started the process to terminate Tibbetts.

He remains in the Marion County Jail under a $50,000 bond. His trial is scheduled for August 10.

In the meantime, Tibbetts cannot contact the victims or teachers who are expected to testify.
