INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Eli Lilly engineer is busted after police said he tried to
solicit sex from a child.
Johnson County detectives said 45-year-old Keith Weisenberger
used Web sites to chat with a girl who he thought was 14 years old.
Weisenberger, who went by the screen name mr_right_now39@yahoo.com,
later learned the girl was actually an undercover cop, Detective
Bill Pfifer.
"There was actually a relationship there," said Pfifer. "He would contact the undercover character, use flattering terms."
24-Hour News 8 went to Weisenberger's Westfield home. No one came to the door.
Pfifer said Weisenberger found the teenage target chatting online. It took six weeks for him to try and meet the girl in person. The day of the alleged date, police records show Weisenberger asked the girl, "What kind of stuff have you done with guys before? And what do you want to try?"
Police had a decoy waiting at a White River Township Park for Weisenberger to arrive. But instead of pulling into the entrance, Weisenberger went across the street to a development where he thought the girl lived. That's where he was busted Saturday night.
Weisenberger told police he had never done something like this before.
The undercover detective describes Weisenberger's chats as sexually explicit and said Weisenberger knew the girl was a minor.
In the final chat, Weisenberger said, "I hope your mom doesn't come home tonight. Are you ready to meet tonight if she doesn't come home?"
Sgt. Pfifer said, "It's more commonplace than most parents realize. It's an ongoing problem that we have."
Weisenberger bonded out of jail after he was arrested Saturday.
He's facing one count of felony child solicitation but police
believe more charges could be coming once they search his computers
and iPhone.
