PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) - An Indianapolis man is facing charges after police say he tried to smuggle drugs in to his son in prison.

Frank Yarbrough, 61, Indianapolis, was planning to visit his son, Ronald Nelson, who is being held in Pendleton Correctional Facility when police said he was found to have what was believed to be heroin and marijuana, in addition to tobacco, which inmates are prohibited from possessing.

Nelson, who is serving sentences of 30 years and 60 years for dealing cocaine, was placed in segregation.

Yarbrough was preliminarily charged with trafficking with an inmate a controlled substance, a Class C felony; possession of marijuana over 30 grams, and possession of a controlled substance, both Class D felonies; and trafficking with an inmate tobacco, a Class A misdemeanor. The investigation is ongoing and has been referred to the Madison County prosecutor’s office for review.
