CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana man who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for using a pick ax to kill a man he found sleeping uninvited on his couch has been sentenced to 33 years in prison.
The Times of Munster reports that before 32-year-old Calvin Peacock agreed to the plea deal with Lake County prosecutors, he had been facing a murder charge in the death of Kevin Sperry of Gary. Sperry had entered Peacock's Gary home unannounced in October 2009.
Peacock said Sperry had previously stolen and sold a shotgun belonging to Peacock that his grandfather had given him as a gift.
