MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - A popular custom home builder is busted for spying on a client.
Muncie police said the president of Chase Custom Home Builders installed a hidden camera on a woman’s bedroom door without her knowing. He told officers he just wanted to see the woman naked.
David Keller, 66, is well known in Muncie. He owns an entire strip center just outside Muncie where his custom home and custom closet businesses are based.
Thursday afternoon there was only a sign on Keller's office door stating “Closed for Business.” 24-Hour News 8 tried called the phone number listed on the sign, but only got his voicemail.
Muncie police said the client called Keller last week to replace a broken electrical outlet. The victim told police Keller built the home for her several years ago.
But instead of just fixing the outlet, police said Keller also installed a hidden camera in the woman’s bedroom door. She found it and called authorities.
Muncie police said the incident appears to be an isolated case with only one victim targeted. But investigators add, since the case broke, several more clients have expressed concern that Keller may have spied on them too.
Police said they’ve searched Keller’s computers but they haven’t found anything incriminating. However, Keller immediately admitted to the crime when police questioned him.
Keller bonded out of jail Tuesday after he was arrested.
He’s charged for felony voyeurism.
