INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro police have identified a 15-year-old killed after a fist
fight turned deadly.
The shooting happened around 11:50 a.m. Friday. Police said
Daniel Ferguson was found on the front porch of 2625 E. North
Street with a gun shot wound. He died at the scene.
Police said 5-6 people were involved in a fist fight when
someone pulled out a gun and shot Ferguson.
"Got out on the street. Basically punches thrown then at that
point, one of the individuals pulled out a handgun and fired
several shots at the victim," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell, Indianapolis
Metro Police Department.
Police are searching for a suspect in the shooting death of a
15-year old. They are looking for Brandon Pannell in
connection with the death of Daniel Ferguson.
Police believe a fist fight between several people started near
the 2600 block of East North Street.
Ferguson was shot and killed moments later.
Police say Pannell should be considered armed and dangerous.
The crime drew a huge crowd. Only one neighbor talked to 24-Hour
News 8, but didn't want his identity to be revealed. He said he
didn't bother getting out of bed after hearing four shots because
he said the sound of gunfire is not unusual.
"Most of these people take care of themselves. They don't rely
on the system as much as the rest of the city. These are just parts
of the city, the neighorhood where people just take care of their
own," said unidentified neighbor.
And, that worries police in a neighborhood where tempers now are
flaring.
