INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro detectives are looking for at least one more suspect in a series of home invasions, robberies and beatings. Police arrested two men late last night after a violent attack on the city’s southwest side.
A 911 call at about 8:00 Sunday night alerted police to a home robbery in the 400 block of Polaris Drive. The two elderly residents don’t speak English, only Mandarin, and that made it difficult for police to learn exactly what happened and who they were looking for. The residents' grandson served as an interpreter and was the person that called 911.
About an hour and a half later, another 911 call alerted police to another home invasion robbery this time in the 100 block of Rockshire Road. The Rockshire robbery was followed by a series of calls. Two of the victims escaped to nearby businesses. And two other victims phoned from inside the apartment while the attackers were still threatening them.
Victims described the suspects as three black males wearing masks and armed with guns. Police arrived quickly to the Covington Square Apartments. They set up a perimeter and say they tracked down two of the suspects: 18-year-old Michael J. Davis and James Motley, 26. But police said there is at least a third suspect on the run and perhaps a fourth.
Lt. Jeff Duhamell with IMPD described the suspects as “brazen and dangerous.” He said investigators believe the men are responsible for nearly half a dozen home invasion robberies. So, investigators are not releasing the mug shots for the two suspects in custody. They want to show their pictures to other potential victims and perhaps link them to several other crimes.
Officers released 911 calls from some of the victims. In one call, the victims can be heard begging the suspects not to hurt them as the suspects demand money.
In one of the targeted homes, small children were present during the time of the robbery. Police said the suspects fired shots and terrorized the family.
Officers said, so far, no one has been shot. However, several people have been beaten by the suspects.
Anyone with information regarding the third suspect is asked to
call IMPD or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
