CUMBERLAND, Ind. (WISH) - Police are questioning a suspect in a string of burglaries and a robbery in the Cumberland area.

Lauren Tanner came home Friday afternoon to her east 10th Street home and found her house had been ransacked. "I walked in to all of every cabinet, every drawer, every inch of our house flipped, gone through. Gallons of milk dumped everywhere on our animals the whole house was a complete mess."

Three hours later burglars struck again. They hit a home on Woodlark which just blocks away from the Tanner house.

Detective Jim Caldwell from the Cumberland Police Department said, "One house the jewelry was taken, one cell phone another just lap tops and cameras; stuff like that."

Then they hit Steve Scott's home on Coolee drive. Rocks were thrown inside to see if an alarm system was on. They climbed inside, grabbed cash and electronics and left other stolen items.

"They dropped it I mean handfuls of jewelry, so as they climbed thru the window, it dropped out of their pockets," said Scott.

From the Coolee address detectives believe that the two suspects made their way over to Summerwood. That's where they put a gun to the head of the victim and stole her car.

"Our officer was actually still on the Summerwood address, where the robbery occurred, put the description of the car out. IMPD happened to have a car close by and they saw the car on John Marshall Drive area, near John Marshall High School," Detective Caldwell explained.

IMPD Officers grabbed one of the suspects, another got away.

They found stolen items from two of the homes, inside the car.

In the next few days, detectives will show the robbery victim some mug shots hoping to make quick work on a string of crimes.
