A semitrailer cab that was stolen this week has been found, police said. But the semitrailer, which contained pharmaceuticals, is still missing.
The cab, which was stolen from the Flying J truck stop at Whiteland Road and County Road 350E Wednesday evening, was found a day later near Franklin, according to a statement from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
A dog and personal items that were in the cab also were recovered, the statement said. The cab was found on County Road 600E, just south of State Road 44.
Police believe the thief or thieves had another cab nearby and hooked it up to the stolen trailer, the statement said.
The driver, who works for Fort Wayne company Fisher Trucking, picked up the truck in Louisville and was headed to Chicago. She and a passenger went to the Flying J about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to get fuel and take showers, according to a police report. When they returned, the cab and trailer were gone, and broken glass was strewn about the lot.
Anyone with information on the stolen trailer should call Maj. Steve Byerly at 346-4604.
