Putnamville, Ind. (WISH) - An Indianapolis woman was arrested Tuesday for trafficking drugs to a Putnamville Correctional Facility inmate.
Danielle Johnson, 28, was charged with three felonies: trafficking with an inmate, a Class C felony, possession of cocaine, a Class C felony and possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, a Putnamville Correctional Facility release said.
Johnson was at the facility visiting her fiancée, Maurice Griffin, 29, from Indianapolis. At the conclusion of the visit, a strip search of Griffin was conducted when staff observed an article wrapped in electrical tape located on his person. The contents were tested and identified as 5.3 grams of cocaine, 2 grams of Kush, and 115 strips of Suboxone.
Johnson admitted smuggling the drugs into the facility and was taken to the Putnam County Jail.
Griffin could face additional charges for the trafficking.
"We're very serious about pursing criminal charges to the fullest extent of the law,” Superintendent Stanley Knight in a release. “Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be enough to deter some from participating in illegal activity. One poor choice can lead to a lifetime of consequences. I hope that anyone with criminal intent considers that before they enter our facility.”
