INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police made an arrest over the weekend, exactly two weeks after a deadly crash on 82nd Street. That crash killed one person and injured three others .
On Saturday, officers arrested 41-year-old Seantel Marsden for felony charges of murder, battery, criminal recklessness, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police say Marsden deliberately rammed into his ex-girlfriend’s car multiple times on Feb. 9., causing the car to veer into oncoming traffic. The crash killed 29-year-old Rahshaad Artis, who was sitting in the passenger seat.
Police say Marsden fled the scene that night, but turned himself in a couple days later. Detectives questioned and released him.
Friday, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant for Marsden's arrest. He was arrested Saturday after another ex-girlfriend called police.
Rahshaad Artis leaves behind two children; he had worked at Hostess and as a barber on the side. His mother spoke to 24-Hour News 8 the day after her son was killed. The day after a man was arrested in her son’s death, she said she was glad to see Marsden incarcerated.
“He was the catalyst of the whole thing, with my son dying, his girlfriend being in the hospital also,” said Linda Sturdivant, Artis’ mother.
She said, if she could say anything to Marsden, she would say, “God forgive you. I forgive you. I just want justice from you, for all involved. I know things happen, but this was horrible for me, and for his children. I just could say some other rather. I just hope he gets what he deserves.”
