FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A 16-year-old was robbed at gunpoint and shot around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Fort Wayne police.
Police say the boy was near a garage in the 2900 block of Palisades Drive on his iPad when he was robbed. At that time, police believe he chased after the suspect (or suspects) and was then shot in the abdomen.
The boy was taken to the hospital in good condition.
The iPad was a school-issued computer from East Allen County Schools.
Police said they are still trying to figure out where the actual shooting occurred, but believe it may have been close to the residence.
Officers say the boy usually sat in his garage doing homework and other activities on the iPad. They're not sure if those involved knew of the boy's routine or if it was a random act of violence.
Several FWPD officers were canvassing the area looking for any suspects and talking to neighbors trying to gather additional information.
Police have not released any suspect information.
