LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) -

A Lafayette mom turned to the police for help when her two sons gave new meaning to sibling rivalry Tuesday.

Lafayette Police Department Sgt. Jay Rosen told 24-Hour News 8 news partner WLFI-TV that a verbal argument between the two Lafayette brothers turned violent Tuesday when one brother, Travis Hood, pulled out an imitation samurai sword and began to duel with his brother, who had armed himself with a three-foot-long fence post.

Hood's brother did receive superficial cuts during the fight. Their mother told police she tried to call 911 as the boys were fighting, but Hood allegedly knocked the phone out of her hand.

Hood could face charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, battery and interference with reporting a crime.
