INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Butler University students were alerted Wednesday that the Butler University Police Department discovered an unattended car on fire at around 6 a.m.

The car was in the Tau Kappa Epsilon parking lot located at 715 West Hampton Drive, according to Chief of Staff and Executive Director of Public Safety Benjamin Hunter.

The Indianapolis Fire Department extinguished the fire, but the case is under investigation as a possible arson due to the suspicious nature of the fire.

Anyone with information regarding this fire is asked to please contact University Police detective Bruce Allee at 317-940-8856 or report any other suspicious activity to 317-940-9999.

BUPD also offers 24-hour transportation escorts.
