INDIANAPOLIS, IN. (WISH) - Legendary head coach,Charlie Brown, has coached girls basketball at Northwest for decades.
On Thursday afternoon the coach talked about the murder of one of his former players.
This comes after police arrested five people for the shooting death of Larretha "LaLa" Draughon.
" She was at the wrong place at the wrong time," said Draughon's former coach Charlie Brown.
According to Marion County Prosecutors Draughon tried to break up a fight the night of July 3rd at Ben Davis Baseball park.
Investigators say the fight started between Takia Rice and Kayla Woods.
Both Rice and Woods are accused of recruiting people with guns to come watch the fight.
When the things got out of hand Draughon tried to break it up, but then shots were fired and she was shot in the head and died.
"She was special its hard to believe she is not around any more," said Brown.
Police still are unsure who pulled the trigger on the fatal shot. However that hasn't kept prosecutors from charging all three gunmen with murder.
Prosecutors also tried both Rice and Woods with murder for recruiting people with guns to the fight.
" I'm excited," said Coach Brown. " I felt like nothing was going to be done and that nobody knew anything, I thought it was going to be swept under the rug."
