Cops: Intoxicated driver almost hit kids

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A 36-year-old Kendallville man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after he drove through a parking lot at high speeds, almost hitting two children.

An off-duty Indiana State Trooper saw the man go up and over an embankment, pile of snow and sidewalk near the Cole YMCA. The driver narrowly missed hitting two young children, according to a release.

The driver then sped toward East Noble High School.

The off-duty officer saw the car drive through the lawn of the high school and then return to the street.

The driver drove into a vacant grassy area between homes and was recklessly driving in circles.

He was taken into custody.

Andrew A. Kissinger, 36, was arrested and tested positive for amphetamines and opiates. He faces preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated – endangerment, criminal recklessness, reckless driving, and criminal trespassing.

He was taken to the Noble County Jail.
