ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - A man out on bond for a child molesting charge is accused of strangling his girlfriend and killing her dog and its eight puppies, Anderson Police said.
Officers arrested 46-year-old Dennis White on Wednesday after employees at a grocery store reported concerns to police because White was covered in blood.
Investigators questioned White, who confessed to beating his girlfriend and stabbing her dog after it bit his behind. Police say the dog, Coco, was coming to the aid of the girlfriend. The dog’s bite gave her enough time to get away from White, but he attacked the dog and pups in her absence, according to authorities.
"He had his knee in my throat where I couldn't breathe. He jerked me and threw me on the ground," the woman said.
Police say the incident began after the girlfriend refused to give White part of her tax refund.
White was arrested on nine preliminary charges of cruelty to an animal, along with a preliminary charge of strangulation. He was out on bond from Randolph County for four battery charges and one child molesting charge. He was being held in Madison County on $100,000 bond.
"I want him to die," the woman said. "He killed the dogs and puppies. I never dreamed he would do that."
