INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police detectives found the body of a 38-year-old man rolled up in a carpet Thursday afternoon.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a 911 call to an apartment in the 3300 block of N. Meridian. Once inside detectives found the body of 38-year-old Johnny Curtis Allen.
Investigators say Allen suffered numerous stab wounds to the body. Officers also reported that blood spots littered the apartment unit. Detectives were able to trace the apartment to the renter, 41-year-old David Gaines.
According to the police report, in a taped confession Gaines admitted he stabbed Allen to death after an early morning argument. He then told investigators he placed Allen’s body in a rug and used bleach to clean up the apartment and the murder weapon.
Police recovered the knife used. Gaines has been preliminarily charged with murder and is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.
