TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - A Terre Haute man is charged with murder in connection with the slaying of his estranged wife.
Prosecutors also charged 38-year-old Enzert Lewis with altering a death scene, obstruction of justice and invasion of privacy Tuesday.
The decomposed remains of 39-year-old Allyson Elmi-Lewis were found Nov. 3 along a road in eastern Vigo County. Police say that was more than three weeks after a next-door neighbor had last seen the woman.
Police say in an affidavit that a jail inmate and a cousin of Lewis both said he told them that he killed the woman. The couple has separated in mid-September.
Lewis is being held without bond in the Vigo County Jail pending a court appearance Wednesday. Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.
