NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A former Fishers daycare worker was sentenced to probation after police say she broke a 3-year-old’s foot by slamming the boy down to the ground last fall.
Kristy Lopez was arrested in February in connection with the November 2011 incident at Primrose School in Fishers. She initially told investigators the boy had tripped and fallen, but later investigators determined that she had become frustrated with the child’s behavior and had picked him up and slammed him back down to the ground twice. She was asked to resign from the school shortly after the incident.
She was sentenced Friday to 730 days in jail on the charge of battery resulting in injury to a minor, with two days credit. That sentence was then suspended, and she was ordered to serve it on probation and pay court costs.
