INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police are alerting senior citizens to be on the lookout after two men posing as officers got inside a 91-year-old woman’s home.
The victim did not wish to be named in this article. However, she says when she received a knock on the door, she looked outside and two black men were standing on her porch. She added they flashed a badge and told her they were looking for a possible suspect in some local robberies.
She let one of the men in her home. He told her his name was Lt. Westbrook. IMPD says there is no Lt. Westbrook on their staff. Once he got inside the home his questions changed. He asked the grandmother where the money is and asked if she had any guns in the house.
“I said, 'I don’t have no money,'” said the victim. “My money is in the bank. ”
Shortly after that exchange the two men walked away and the victim called police. IMPD says all officers should be in uniform. They should have a name plate, badge, and even a department issued ID.
If you still feel skeptical police urge the public to call 911.
