INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Rick Hite and United States Attorney Joseph Hogsett held a joint press conference and announced more than a dozen members of a north side gang called “Buddah Boyz” are facing federal charges.
For decades, the gang is accused of terrorizing the Mapleton-Fall Creek area. Investigators have charged the members and some of the known associates with drug trafficking, illegal firearms, and drug distribution.
“This is entrenched violence. They need to be exiled from our community,” said IMPD Police Chief Rick Hite.
The investigation picked up steam after the murder of Sierra Bradberry . The newly wed was shot and killed as her new born baby sat beside her on a couch in her home.
Investigators call the mother an innocent resident who was struck and killed by a gunman’s bullet that penetrated her walls.
During that investigation police learned more about the illegal activities of the “Buddah Boyz”.
If convicted Hogsett said the 14 suspects will serve time in federal prisons outside of the Hoosier state.
“They will serve their time in Utah, California, and in Arizona,” said Hogsett.
Federal investigators are still looking for five more "Buddah Boyz” – Daniel Laderson, Emanuel Murphy, Stacey Rhodes, Donovon Barnes and DeWayne Battle.
