WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. (WISH) - A Wayne Township Emergency Medical Operations officer returned home from work Friday night to find his staff car had been vandalized.
Officer Shane Hardwick heard noises outside of his home around 5 p.m. When he walked outside, Hardwick found a man hitting his car with an ax.
The ax became stuck in the car door, officers say.
The suspect fled the scene in his pickup truck. Hardwick says he had never seen the man before and calls the incident bizarre.
No injuries were reported.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department told 24-Hour News 8 that a person of interest has been arrested in the case. Indiana State Police made the arrest.
