FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) - Frankfort police responded to shots fired Wednesday morning near the post office.

The Frankfort Police Department headed to the 500 block of East Morrison Street at 7:31 a.m.

Upon arrival at the area of the Frankfort Post Office, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The injured man, identified as 34-year-old Lonnie Lawson, was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Frankfort.

Police later arrested 24-year-old Tony Castoreno, Jr., on a preliminary charge of attempted murder and a charge of serious violent felon in possession of a firearm.

A St. Vincent Hospital employee said mid-afternoon Wednesday that Lawson had been released from the emergency room.
