GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) - The man convicted of brutally raping a Greenwood woman will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Shawn Corbally was sentenced to hundreds of years in prison Monday morning.
A jury found Corbally guilty of all charges against him on Feb. 28 . Corbally was found guilty of burglary, four counts of criminal deviant conduct, rape and two counts of criminal confinement.
Corbally was sentenced to 45 years each for six of his charges, which will be served consecutively. He was sentenced to 20 years each for two other charges, but those will be served concurrent to the other charges. Overall, he was sentenced to 270 years of an executed prison sentence.
The 35-year-old victim said today's sentence is a victory for her and her family.
Her mother and a host of other family and friends were at her side when the sentenced was handed down Monday.
"I can move forward and I don't have to see him ever again," the victim said outside of the Johnson County courthouse. "Thank God he can't do this to me or anybody else ever again. He can't threaten to kill my family like he has."
Prosecutors and police said Corbally went into the woman's Greenwood apartment in July 2012 and raped her at knifepoint while her child slept in the same bed. She was eventually able to get away from him when he took her outside of the home.
