LAGRANGE, Ind. (AP) - A Fort Wayne man released from prison last year after serving 30 years in the 1982 killing of a high school and college basketball star has been arrested on drug charges.
Fifty-year-old Mark Mauricio was arrested Friday after LaGrange County sheriff's deputies allegedly found more than 2 pounds of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop. He's being held on initial charges of possessing marijuana and driving a vehicle while intoxicated.
The Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/YD1xtN ) Mauricio was convicted in the fatal February 1982 shooting of 20-year-old Nancy Rehm, a basketball standout at Bishop Luers High School and Indiana Tech. That shooting occurred as Mauricio and his brother were trying to steal two snowmobiles.
His 60-year sentence was reduced and Mauricio was released from prison in February 2012.
