MONTICELLO, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana judge has approved a psychological examination for a man charged in the fatal stabbings of his mother and half-sister.

A White Superior Court judge on Thursday granted a request by 20-year-old David Rodenbarger's court-appointed attorney for the exam. He'll undergo the exam at the Marion County Jail, where he's now being held.

Rodenbarger was charged earlier this month with two counts of murder in the deaths of 41-year-old Michelle J. "Shelly" Haskins and 6-year-old Jillian E. "Jilly" Haskins. They were stabbed to death with a two-pronged meat fork and knife at the family's Monticello home.

Attorney Pat Manahan, tells the Journal & Courier Rodenbarger may have serious mental health problems and had repeatedly smeared himself with feces and drank his own urine in jail.
