LAPORTE, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police say a northwestern Indiana woman is awaiting extradition to Arizona after being arrested in connection with the 2002 slaying of her husband.
They say 61-year-old Jane Leslie Carpenter of Crown Point was arrested Monday as she arrived at a client's home in LaPorte. Sgt. Ann Wojas says an Arizona warrant charges her with the first-degree murder of Brent Carpenter in June 2002 in Prescott, Ariz.
Wojas says the Carpenters resided in Prescott at the time of the slaying and shortly afterward she moved to Indiana. She operated a business out of her home.
The woman was being held Monday at the LaPorte County Jail. Records there did not indicate whether she had an attorney.
