INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A 70-year-old man is facing charges after a 29-year-old man told police he was molested starting when he was 12 years old.
The 70-year-old man, Otis Bernard Jetter, was identified by the victim, Arthur Stevens, as a pastor at The Pilgrim Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Church officials told 24-Hour News 8 he has been removed from that position.
According to Stevens, Jetter would drive him to church in his van and engage in multiple sex acts when the boy was 12 and 13 years old. In some cases, Stevens said he was given cash and told to keep it a secret.
“I was scared I thought my father would beat me or ground me,” said Stevens. “Even though it wasn’t my fault I was scared to tell my parents. “
After many years, Stevens said he came forward because he noticed Jetter transporting another boy to church. Then, the boy stopped coming to church. Stevens told police he worried that the same thing may have happened to the boy.
“I felt like the reverend was reaching out to another person to do the same thing he done to me,” said Stevens.
Jetter is charged with three counts of child molesting. He denied the allegations in an interview with police. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
As the investigation continues Stevens tells 24-Hour News 8 he is a man who is struggling with his sexuality.
“Sexually I’m attracted to men,” said Stevens. ”I shouldn’t be like that cause I know God didn’t create me to be like that. ”
So far, police have no reports of other victims. No one answered the door at Jetter’s home this afternoon.
