KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - An Indiana University student from Kokomo was arrested in Seattle last week after police said he posed as an officer then tried to scam a man he lured to a hotel room in what police called a fake sex sting, 24-Hour News 8 news partner the Kokomo Tribune reports .
Police said Adam Blazak, 28, posed as a 14-year-old girl in a Craigslist ad to target his victim, a 19-year-old foreign-born man, the newspaper said. The two exchanged dozens of emails, police said, then arranged to meet at a motel room.
When the victim arrived, police said, Blazak yelled, “Federal agent, get on the ground!”
Blazak then told the man he was under arrest and placed him in handcuffs, the newspaper reports, then took his wallet and keys. He then told the man he’d let him go for money.
The victim obliged, giving Blazak nearly $200. He later reported to police that he had been robbed.
Police ultimately arrested both men. Blazak was preliminarily charged with extortion and was released on $50,000 bond, the newspaper reports.
