BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - A student accused of stealing and torturing a cat, and possibly killing two others, has been suspended from Indiana University.
IU spokesman Mark Land said Christopher Gugliuzza was “summarily suspended effective immediately.” He’s also barred from campus.
Gugliuzza is facing felony charges connected to the incidents with the cats. He was released from the Monroe County Jail on bond.
Land said the dean of students has the authority to suspend a student if the student violates the student code of conduct or if the student is considered a threat to the university community.
Gugliuzza can appeal, but IU had received no word as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday on whether he would.
