SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - The teenager who was among a family of four from Shelbyville that went missing appeared in court on Monday.
Joseph Guy, 18, is facing one charge of escape, after police say he removed his ankle monitoring device, which was part of his house arrest for stalking charges.
He told 24-Hour News 8 while leaving court that the man he was accused of stalking is going to kill him. He also said everything about the family’s disappearance — including staging the house to look like an abduction — is a lie.
Guy entered a not guilty plea in Shelby County court, and the court appointed him an attorney. His bond was set at $7,500. Guy said he has no money in his bank account, but he does have a scooter worth $1,700.
Sunday is Old National Armed Forces Bump Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
