ANDERSON, Ind. (The Herald Bulletin) - The jury trial for an inmate accused of stabbing another inmate to death is set to begin Wednesday.

Pendleton Correctional Facility inmate Jeffrey Cook, faces counts of murder, prisoner possessing a dangerous device, criminal gang activity, and committing a felony while a member of a criminal gang, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner The Herald Bulletin reports.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Cook and another inmate, Jerry Clemons, were caught stabbing another inmate.

Cook and Clemons allegedly discarded their weapons before officers apprehended them.

The inmate was transported to the hospital but died later that day from his injuries.

The affidavit says a search in Cook's cell found a piece of paper that detailed the homicide.

Clemons pleaded guilty to murder Aug. 29, 2012, and was sentenced to 70 years in prison.
