KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) - A Kokomo man charged with killing a homeless friend whose decomposing body was found in an unplugged freezer will go on trial in July.

Walter Logan's murder trial had been scheduled for March 19, but a Howard County judge moved the trial to July 30 after defense attorneys asked for a continuance.

Police found the body of 29-year-old Alex Shipp in a freezer in the basement of Logan's home Dec. 2.

Logan allegedly told investigators he bound Shipp and covered his nose and mouth with duct following a fight after the two men got drunk, did drugs and had sex. Court records say Logan put Shipp's body in the freezer in his basement.

Police say Logan told investigators he tried to kill himself with pills afterward but fell asleep.
