JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A Kentucky man was arrested in Jackson County Wednesday afternoon following a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation.
A car was stopped just before 1 p.m. on southbound I-65 near the 51 mile marker. During the traffic stop, the trooper who made the stop became suspicious of the driver. A nearby trooper and his K-9 partner stopped to assist.
The K-9 was alerted to the smell of drugs inside the vehicle.
A search on the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately one pound of high grade marijuana, police say.
The driver, 27-year-old Benjamin C. Schwartz, was arrested without incident and taken to the Jackson County Jail where he is facing charges of possession of marijuana (over 30 grams), and dealing in marijuana, both Class D felonies.
