INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An officer who was responding to the report of a disruptive student was left punched, bit, and struggling with an asthma attack after an 11-year-old refused to stop throwing objects.

An Indianapolis Public Schools Police officer responded to the report of disruptive student Tuesday afternoon. Before she could arrive to the scene, the female student had destroyed a classroom.

The 11-year-old female reportedly threw cans of food at the staff, threw chairs, knocked over desks and cabinets, broke pictures and pulled a fire alarm, according to a police report.

When the officer arrived she found the girl continuing to throw objects at the window, cracking them.

The officer attempted to calm the girl but she refused.

When the girl lifted her arm to throw a can at the officer’s face, she warned her she would use Mace if she failed to stop.

She continued with her actions and the officer sprayed Mace at the back of her head.

The girl continued.

As the officer attempted to restrain her, the student hit the officer in the back of the head with a can, kicked, and punched her.

Even after a staff member came to assist and the girl was placed in handcuffs she continued to fight the officer – kicking, spitting in her face, and biting her wrist.

The officer had to be treated for an asthma attack from the struggle.

The girl was arrested for battery on an officer, resisting law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.
