BROWNSTOWN, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana man accused of stabbing his brother in the chest and stomach allegedly attacked his sibling after being told he was no longer welcome to live in his home.

Sixty-two-year-old Robert Cross of Seymour faces attempted murder and other charges in the stabbing of 65-year-old Melvin Cross. He was arraigned Wednesday and ordered held at the Jackson County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The Republic reports that court documents allege Robert Cross told officers he stabbed his brother Jan. 18 after he told him he had to leave his home due to a drinking problem.

Melvin Cross told police his brother approached him with a large knife, saying "this was going to be the worst day ever." He's listed in good condition at an Indianapolis hospital.
