NEWTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The Newton County man now accused of murder of a 13-month-old-baby boy in his care went before a judge Wednesday morning.
34-year-old Francisco Villegas, Jr., of Brook, Ind., was taken into custody last week.
Wednesday morning during his arraignment Newton County Superior Court Judge Daniel Molter read the charges against Villegas.
They include murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death and obstruction of justice.
According to those charges he's accused of killing the child by means of blunt force trauma. Court documents also say Villegas drained water from a bath tub during a police investigation.
The child suffered a laceration to his liver.
Another hearing set to take place Jan. 4.
