FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - Wednesday afternoon Fishers Police Officers arrested a man suspected in burglaries.

Monitago Griffin, 23, of Indianapolis, faces two preliminary charges of burglary, a Class B felony, two counts of possession of stolen property, a Class D felony, a false reporting and driving while suspended, both Class A misdemeanors.

First Fishers Police Officers were called to an attempted burglary in the 10800 block of Turne Grove Lane on Wednesday. The owner told police a black man came to his door trying to sell magazines, and the homeowner said no. The man drove off in a black SUV. The owner then noticed damage to his back door.

About 20 minutes later the Hamilton County Dispatch Center was called about a burglary in progress in the 13200 block of Barnegat Lane in Fishers. The owner also stated a black man tried to make his way in the home, then drove off in a black Jeep.

Fishers Police Officer Jeremy Lindauer was in the area and noticed the Jeep on Fall Creek Road. Officer Lindauer stopped a Jeep in a parking lot.

The suspect falsely indentified himself to Officer Lindauer, but after more questioning Griffin gave his correct information.

Officers found that Griffin had several outstanding warrants out in Marion County. Officers found the stolen property in the Jeep following a residential burglary last week.

Griffin was arrested and taken to The Hamilton County Jail.
