INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis man is under arrest after punching an officer in the face and assaulting two women.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received two separate calls of an assault downtown shortly before 4 p.m.

Police say two women reported being attacked by an unknown man. Both victims gave police a description of the suspect.

An officer approached the suspect near Meridian and Georgia streets. When the officer was talking to the man the suspect hit him in the face.

The officer deployed a stun gun to apprehend the suspect but failed. Officers at the scene say they believe the prong to the stun gun got stuck in the suspect’s coat.

Police say 29-year-old Nathaniel Sconiers Jr. was arrested on the 100 block of South Meridian Street.

One woman involved in the earlier assault was taken to the hospital.

The officer was also transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital. Moments before he was transported, the officer was holding a bloody napkin to his face.

All are expected to make full recoveries.
