INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A night of celebration ended in violence in downtown Indianapolis, leaving one man in the hospital in critical condition.
Saturday night, Anthony Allen was hanging out, having fun with his two buddies downtown. The group was celebrating their friend's acceptance into the Navy.
According to police, that celebration went south as the three were walking near Pennsylvania and Pearl streets.
Allen and friends were greeted by two men. One of the strangers blindsided Allen and punched him in the face.
The 25-year-old fell onto the asphalt and was unconscious for two and half minutes. Allen's friends rushed him to the hospital, where he was in critical condition Wednesday. Family members said Allen has swelling on the brain and blood clots, and they are unsure if he will ever be the same.
"Life has stopped for us," said Allen's sister Amanda Pottle.
The suspect is described as 5-foot-10, 170 pounds. Police are reviewing downtown surveillance cameras. Investigators are asking anyone with information in the case to call 327-6500.
