CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana man faces theft charges for allegedly stealing dozens of packages delivered to homes during the Christmas shopping season.

Twenty-five-year-old Kire Mitreski was arrested last week on two counts of felony theft. Crown Point police say the Cedar Lake man told officers he pawned many of the items he allegedly stole from home's doorsteps.

The Times of Munster reports Mitreski allegedly gave his fiance a sports jacket for Christmas that was among the packages he'd stolen.

Police who searched his home say they found items that had been reported stolen, including a laptop computer and clothing, while jewelry was found in his vehicle.

Crown Point Police Chief Pete Land says the investigation is continuing with assistance from national delivery companies and the U.S. postal inspector's office.
